Materials Needed:
Worsted Weight Yarn: White - 2 oz.
Blue - 1 1/2 oz.
Crochet hook, size I (5.50 mm)
or size needed for gauge
GAUGE: Rnds 1-3 = 3 1/2"
HOT PAD:
BACK
RND 1: (Right side): With Blue, ch 4, 11 dc in fourth ch from hook (3 skipped chs count as first dc): join with slip st to first dc. finish off: 12 dc.
NOTE: Mark last round as right side.
RND 2: With right side facing, join White with slip st in same st as joining; ch 3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), 3 dc in same st, ch 1, skip next dc, *4 dc in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc; repeat from * around; join with slip st to first dc, finish off: 24 dc and 6 ch-1 sps.
NOTE: Work in Back Loops Only unless other wise specified.
RND 3: With right side facing, join Blue with slip st in same st as joining; ch 3, dc in same st and in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1; repeat from * around; join with slip st to first dc: 36 dc and 6 ch-1 sps.
Rnd 4: Ch3, dc in same st and in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2; repeat from * around; join with slip st to first dc, finish off: 48 dc and 6 ch-2 sps.
Rd 5: With right side facing, join White with slip st in any ch-2 sp; ch 3, (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in same sp, skip next dc, dc in next 6 dc, skip next dc, * (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp, skip next dc, dc in next 6 dc, skip next dc; repeat from * around; join with slip st to first dc, finish off: 72 dc and 6 ch-1 sps.
FRONT:
Work same as Back; do not finish off.
JOINING:
Place Front and Back with wrong sides together, Front facing, and working through inside loops, slip st in next 2 dc and in next ch-1 sp, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in same sp, skip next 3 dc, dc in sp before next dc, dc in next 6 dc, dc in sp before next dc, * (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next ch-1 sp, skip next 3 dc, dc in sp before next dc, dc in next 6 dc, dc in sp before next dc; repeat from * around; join with slip st to first dc, do not finish off; 96 dc and 6 ch-2 sps.
EDGING:
RND 1: Working in Back Loops Only, slip st in next 3 dc and in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, (4 dc, ch 1, 5 dc) in same sp, skip next 4 dc, dc in sp before next dc, dc in next 8 dc, dc in sp before next dc, * (5 dc, ch 1, 5 dc) in next ch-2 sp, skip next 4 dc, dc in sp before next dc, dc in next 8 dc, dc in sp before next dc; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first dc, finish off; 120 dc and 6 ch-1 sps.
To work Front Post double crochet (abbreviated FPdc), YO, insert hook from front to back around post, YO and pull up a loop, (YO and draw through 2 loops of hook) twice. Skip dc behind FPdc.
RND 2: With right side facing and working in Back Loops Only, join Blue with sc in same st as joining; sc in next 4 dc, 2 sc in next ch, sc in next 5 dc, work FPdc around next dc, sc in next 8 dc, work FPdc around next dc, * sc in next 5 dc, 2 sc in next ch, sc in next 5 dc, work FPdc around next dc, sc in next 8 dc, work FPdc around next dc; repeat from * around; join with slip st to both loops of first sc, finish off.
POT HOLDER:
Finished Size: 7 1/2 diameter
Work same as Hot Pad through Joining; finish off.
EDGING
With right side facing and working in Back Loops Only, join Blue with sc in same st as joining; sc in next 3 dc, sc in next 2 chs and in next 4 dc, work FPdc around next dc, sc in next 6 dc, work FPdc around next dc, * sc in next 4 dc, sc in next 2 chs and in next 4 dc, work FPdc around next dc, sc in next 6 dc, work FPdc around next dc; repeat from * around; join with slip st to both loops of first sc, finish off.
