How To's

Below I have put in a few "How To's". I will add more as I think of them. *S*
Joining Yarn: Always join yarn at the end of a row. Crochet up to, but not including, the last step of the stitch; two loops will remain on the hook. With new yarn, complete the stitch by drawing a loop of new yarn through the two loops of the hook. To change colors, use the next color as the new yarn.
Securing Yarn End: To secure the yarn end, cut the yarn 6 inches beyond the last stitch. Draw yarn end through the loop and pull up tight. Finish yarn ends by weaving them into the stitches.
How to Increase:
Work 2 sts in one st. Instructions will specify where to work the increase.
How to Decrease in SC:
To dec one st: Draw up a lp in next 2 sts, yo and through all 3 lps on hook -- sc2tog made and one st decreased.
To dec 2 sts: Draw up a lp in next 3 sts, yo and through all 4 lps on hook -- sc3tog made and 2 sts decreased.
How to Decrease in DC:
To dec one st: [YO and draw up a lp in next st, yo and through 2 lps] twice, yo and through all 3 lps on hook -- dc2tog made and one st decreased.
To dec 2 sts: [Yo and draw up a lp in next st, yo and through 2 lps] 3 times, yo and through all 4 lps on hook -- dc3tog worked and 2 sts decreased.
How to Change Color:
In sc: Work to one st before required color change, draw up a lp in next st, drop color in use; with next color to be used yo and through 2 lps on hook -- sc-color change made.
In dc: Work to one st before required color change, yo and draw up a lp in next st, yo and through 2 lps, drop color in use; with next color to be used yo and through 2 lps on hook -- dc-color change made.
