googly eyes
craft foam
fishing line
48 pony beads
6-inch eyebolt with 2 nuts and a metal washer
potting soil
seeds
selection of small clay pots
Shown used is 2 1/2-inch pot for head
2 1/2-inch and 1 1/2-inch pots to make the body
6 pots for each arm and 7 for each leg
(ranging in size from 3/4-inch to 1 1/4-inch)
Proceedure
First make sure the holes in the head and body pots are large enough to accommodate the eyebolt. If not, you will need to enlarge them.
Then glue the googly eyes and a craft foam mouth to the head pot and set it aside to dry.
Next, make a set of connected legs by tying a pony bead to one end of a 17-inch length of fishing line and threading on 7 of the leg pots from the smallest to the laragest, adding 2 pony beads between each pot for spacers. Now add the pots and spacers for the other leg, stringing them in the opposite direction. Tie a bead after the last pot. Loop the middle of the fishing line and thread it up through the 2 body pots, (see picture A).

To make the arms, thread a 12-inch piece of line through the loop in the leg line and add 6 pots with bead spacers to each side, then tie a bead on each end.
Set the head pot atop the body. Put 1 of the nuts on the eyebolt, then insert the bolt down through the drainage holes in the head and body pots (see pictures B and C).

Place the washer and the second nut on the end of the bolt, adjust the bolt to the proper height, then tighten the nuts.
Finally, fill the head pot with soil and seeds for your plant's "Hair". Hang him in a sunny spot and water as needed (you may need to set a container under him to catch any drips).
