White Tulips



You will need these supplies for this tutorial:
If you don't have PSP8 an evaluation copy can be obtained HERE
Filter Factory B/Accelerating Glass - Download available HERE.
Graphic and tube of your choice or you can use the ones I used HERE.


I will be working from the outside in so that we have square corners not rounded as we would if we worked from the inside out.

Please note: On all the inner bevels used other than the preset ones, the color of the inner bevel should be the same color as the border being worked on. You will be using three colors selected from your graphic. I chose:

Dark Color - 7296B8 - set as foreground
Light Color - E4E9E2 - set as background
Third color - E0C683

Open the graphic you will be using and duplicate it, then close the original.

Image/Canvas Size add 60 pixels to both width and hight.



Selections/Select All.

Layers/New Raster Layer

Flood fill with Dark color from graphic.

Selections/Modify/Contract = 10. Edit/Clear. Select None.

Turn on your rulers if you don't already have them selected. View/Rulers.

With Selector tool set to rectangle Feather=0 start at 0x0 and draw out to 100x100 -



Selections/Invert. Edit/Clear. Select none.

Layer/Duplicate. Image/Mirror. Image/Flip.

Hide background layer and merge visable. Rename this layer "First Border"

Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel/Metalic Preset

Open background layer.



Highlight background layer and Layers/New Raster layer.

Floodfill with light color from graphic. Select All

Selections/Modify/Contract = 20 Edit/Clear Select None.

With Selector tool set to rectangle Feather=0 start at 10x10 and draw out to 150x150



Selections/Invert Edit/Clear. Select none.

Layer/Duplicate. Image/Mirror. Image/Flip.

Hide background layer and First Border and merge visable. Rename this layer "Second Border"

Effects/Inner Bevel/Metalic Preset

Open all layers.




Highlight background layer and Layers/New Raster layer.

Floodfill with dark color from graphic. Select All

Selections/Modify/Contract = 30 Edit/Clear Select None.

With Selector tool set to rectangle Feather=0 start at 20x20 and draw out to 200x200



Invert Edit/Clear. Select none.

Layer/Duplicate. Image/Mirror. Image/Flip.

Hide background layer and First and Second Borders and merge visable. Rename this layer "Third Border"

Effects/Inner Bevel/Metalic Preset

Open all layers.



Select a contrasting color from your graphic and put in your background on the materials palette. This is where I used my "Third Color" above.

Highlight your background layer to make it active. With your magic wand tolerance and feather both at 0 select the white background and floodfill with your new color. Effects/Inner Bevel/Metalic Preset



Make sure all layers are open and Selections/Merge Visable.

Add a border of 25 pixels and flood fill with your dark color.

You should have two different colors from your graphic in your palette. These are the two colors I have.



Filter Factory B/Accelerating Glass



Adjust/Blur/Gaussian Blur = 3 Select none

(Remember to change the color on your inner bevel to the color of border you are working on)

Add 10 pixel border. Select with magic wand and flood fill with your 3rd color. Effects/Inner Bevel Same settings changing your color to your third color. . Deselect

Add 5 pixel border and flood fill with your 1st color. Effects/Inner Bevel. Same settings again changing color to your 1st color. Deselect.

Add 5 pixel border and flood fill with your 3rd color. Effects/Inner Bevel. Same settings changing color to 3rd color. Deselect.

Add a tube if you wish. I have included the tube that I used. I used a slight drop shadow on the tube.

Resize to suit and save as a jpg.


Here is another versions with different sizing of the corner frames. and adding a few drop shadows. With this frame you can change alot of things to get different effects.
